OK, so I admit it. I'm a Columbophile. At its best, this gem of a show is absolutely unsurpassed.
I've recently come across two wonderful nuggets. One is a story in which Peter Falk names his favorite episodes, and I was ecstatic that we had the same Top 2 (albeit in reverse order, but I'll take it). Another is his in-character roast of Frank Sinatra for Dean Martin - in which he reveals his wife's first name!!! (Other sleuths homing in on ID shots have discovered the first name of the good lieutenant himself.)
And now I find a report, in my own World of ERISA, of the wonderful Phyllis Borzi (we may not always agree, but that's what makes the world go 'round, no?) commenting on the little dust-up surrounding the DOL's recent data-sharing agreements with private law firms, as follows: “This seemed like much ado about nothing. They’re acting like it was some nefarious scheme that they had uncovered, like Lt. Columbo or something.” What a nice little Holiday present for me!
